How it looked before we moved in. This is the view from the top of the entry stairs. You can see the old kitchen and nook wallpaper. We also got light green shades for the half-round windows over the front door and dining room window.
How it looks today.
Our dining room (before we painted).
Dining room (Next, I want to replace that green striped wallpaper below the chair rail.)
The living room fireplace, an earlier incarnation. I had lots of family pictures stacked on the mantel. ![]() |
The new mantel; after watching “Designed to Sell” and “Sell this House” TV shows. See the high ceilings!![]() |
Looking from in front of the fireplace and TV into the kitchen. We put a shelf for the (fake) pothos, so I can see over them to the living room TV. (They also nicely hide the kitchen mess from the living room.) And the couch rug is a Frank Lloyd Wright design (Waterlilies) I got from some catalog.![]() |
A close-up view of the great new kitchen wallpaper!
The view from the kitchen, above the fridge. Over the lilacs is the dining room.
The foyer from the living room. (We replaced the door this year.)
We had a hardwood floor put in the office, so the chairs would roll.
The guest bedroom is yellow.
The master bedroom is a lilac color. The winter window dressing
includes purple velvet curtains over the summer dressing of just lace.
Both seasons have (more purple than they look) wisteria draped across.
The center bath (main floor guest bath).

In the mirror, you can see the white bead-board cabinet.
The master bath is light purple to match the wall paper.
I found two cool water-color/tissue paper collage prints at a yardsale ($10 for the two!). They seemed TERRIBLY pink at the sale, but I really liked them. Got them home, and, in our master bathroom, they turned the exact lilac/purple/tan to match the wallpaper. | Close-up of one.![]() |
I moved the pictures into the bedroom, which is the same light purple.
(The color is much more accurate in this picture.)
| My new bookcase. I desperately needed a place for my books that was NOT in the attic! (Costco bookcase, oak, only $200 and 84 inches tall!) |
